Pets Are Welcome — No Exceptions
At Loft Trevisan, pets aren’t just tolerated. They’re welcomed. No size restrictions, no breed restrictions, no extra fees. When you arrive, you’ll find water bowls and treats ready for your furry companion. We’re pet people, and we know the difference between a place that “allows” pets and one that actually wants them there.
The Loft for Pets
The apartment is spacious enough for dogs to be comfortable. Key features:
- Ground floor access to the courtyard for easy walks
- Private garage so you can load/unload without your dog being on the street
- Hard floors throughout (easy cleaning, no carpet worries)
- Courtyard within the barracks complex for quick relief walks
- Quiet building — thick stone walls mean less noise stress for anxious dogs
Walking Your Dog in Bra
Bra is a walkable town with several good spots for dogs:
- The barracks courtyard: Right outside the door. Good for morning and evening quick walks.
- Parco della Rocca: The town’s main green space, about 10 minutes walk. Trees, paths, space to stretch.
- Corso Garibaldi and the historic center: Dogs on leash are welcome everywhere. Most cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating welcome dogs.
- The countryside: Within 5 minutes of driving, you’re in open countryside with vineyard paths and farm roads.
Pet-Friendly Restaurants in Bra
Italian culture is generally dog-friendly, especially in Piedmont. Most restaurants with outdoor seating will welcome your dog. Restaurants we’ve personally visited with our guests’ dogs:
- Osteria del Boccondivino — courtyard seating, very dog-friendly
- Osteria la Bocca Buona — outdoor tables, relaxed about dogs
- Zero Enoteca — dogs welcome at outdoor tables
- Most bars with terraces — Italian bar culture is very accepting of dogs
Tip: In summer, many restaurants have shaded outdoor areas. In winter, call ahead to confirm your dog can sit inside.
Traveling with Pets in Langhe
Wineries
Many cantinas welcome dogs, but always call ahead. Smaller family-run producers tend to be more flexible than large estates. The vineyard walks between towns are perfect for dogs.
Alba and Barolo
Both towns are dog-friendly for walking. Keep your dog on a leash in the historic centers. Water fountains are common in Italian piazzas.
The Car
The roads between wine towns are winding and scenic. If your dog gets car sick, stick to shorter drives (most destinations are under 40 minutes from Bra). Stop at the viewpoints along the way. Your dog will appreciate the fresh air.
Veterinary Information
In case of emergency:
- Veterinary clinic in Bra: Ask us for the current recommendation, as we keep an updated list.
- Emergency number: 112 (single European emergency number) can direct you to veterinary emergency services.
- 24-hour vet: The nearest 24-hour veterinary hospital is in Turin. We can help coordinate if needed.
Practical Tips for Traveling with Pets
- Waste bags: Bring your own or buy them at any supermarket. Bra is clean and expects dog owners to pick up.
- Train travel: Dogs are allowed on Italian trains (Trenitalia). Small dogs in carriers travel free, larger dogs need a ticket at reduced fare and a muzzle.
- Summer heat: Piedmont can be hot in July-August. Walk early morning and evening. The loft has air conditioning for comfortable midday rest.
- Winter: Bra can be cold and foggy. Bring a coat for short-haired dogs.
Why Bra Over Alba for Pet Owners
Alba is busier, more touristy, and has less green space. Bra is calmer, has more walking options, and locals are genuinely friendly toward dogs. The loft’s ground-floor access and private courtyard make the logistics of traveling with a pet much easier than most city-center apartments.
